How to Import a Car from Dubai to Armenia: Process & Customs

Planning to import a car from Dubai to Armenia? The shipping part is usually the easy half — getting the documentation and customs clearance right on both ends is what actually determines whether your car clears without delay. Here’s the process HAPCO follows for every vehicle.

Step 1 — Choose New or Used

HAPCO ships both new and used vehicles by FCL container, so this decision doesn’t change the shipping method — only the documentation you’ll need to prepare (used vehicles typically require additional ownership and condition paperwork).

Step 2 — Prepare Export and Shipping Documents

Every vehicle needs a bill of lading, commercial invoice or bill of sale, and the vehicle’s registration/ownership documents. Confirming these details early is what keeps the customs step at the end from turning into a bottleneck.

Step 3 — Sea Transit: Jebel Ali to Bandar Abbas

Your vehicle ships by FCL container from Jebel Ali Port in Dubai to Bandar Abbas in Iran. Jebel Ali is operated by DP World, one of the largest container ports in the world. For the full route breakdown and current transit times, see Car Shipping from Dubai to Armenia — Get Your Quote.

Step 4 — Overland Transport to Armenia

From Bandar Abbas, the container continues by truck into Armenia. Total transit time for the full Dubai–Armenia journey, sea and land combined, runs 15–21 days.

Step 5 — Customs Clearance in Armenia

This is the step where most delays actually happen — incomplete or mismatched paperwork at the Armenian border is the most common cause of hold-ups on this route, more so than anything that happens at sea. Working with a forwarder who handles this stage directly, rather than leaving it to a local agent unfamiliar with the shipment, is what keeps this predictable.
